Mickey Barreto Missions strategy to address and battle against the homelessness/drug crisis in Seattle WA is as follows:
The individuals that we will be looking after are homeless, adults with substance abuse, and inmates being released, offering short term as well as potential long-term stay on a case by case basis but having many different options for when we cannot offer long-term stay. Now, you may ask “what is your “how?”? Well, let us explain what that is and how we plan on doing our services! Our biggest motive is to ensure that all our patients know they can succeed in the hard path to becoming drug and alcohol free. While following the philosophy of a few different Neuroscientist and other P.H.D individuals who were former drug addicts, we incorporate their ideology into our choices of choosing our mental health professionals to create a fantastic system that will have one of the highest rates of success if not the best. We want to also make clear that we are not a religious based program but all religion is welcome! We will however offer within the facility Christianity as it is the majority religion but will have a way of Transportation to take patients to church for all other types of religions. We are a recovery and science-based program. We have done substantial research to understand the success rate of standardized treatment centers which is around 10%, to the flawed 12 – step program that has a success rate even lower. The big reasons on why these are a low success rate is for the following reasons -
By doing so, we must understand the three important steps -
We want to have Each resident to be assigned with a Counselor who serves as a case manager and advocate for the resident in terms of developing an appropriate, individualized treatment plan and ensures that the resident is taking advantage of needed resources. In addition, the Counselor advocates for the resident during discharge planning and provides appropriate resources and referrals upon completion of the program. We want residents to attend our outpatient/inpatient meetings intensively. Our Residents will attend scheduled activities in the community which assist the resident in developing community resources in the areas of recreation and education. Residents will be linked up with the Department of Motor Vehicles, vocational services, medical services and other community services which meet the resident’s needs. Residents will develop social skills and social support networks by modeling staff’s daily social interactions through education provided in groups and individual counseling and by attending community functions. Residents are encouraged to develop vocational skills. This is accomplished through skills developed by participating in facility chores. Residents are also encouraged to seek out vocational services in the community after the mandatory restriction period and only with the permission of the treatment team. We would want vocational activities and involvement include the Department of Vocational Rehabilitation, WorkSource, resume building, hygiene education, building interviewing skills, and employment search. Fees are based on a sliding scale. Our 3-tier plan of funding is as follows -
